Kitchen Addition & Outdoor Living Transformation | Apex, NC
In this walkthrough, Dave tours a kitchen addition and whole-home transformation in Apex, North Carolina, starting outside and moving through the home.
The backyard sets the tone with layered outdoor living. A bluestone patio, built-in grill, and covered porch create distinct zones for cooking, dining, and relaxing, all connected back to the house.
Inside, the new kitchen and dining addition is defined by a vaulted ceiling with exposed wood beams, abundant natural light, and strong connections to the outdoors. A large island anchors the space, paired with custom cabinetry, warm brass accents, and a balanced mix of materials. A hidden scullery just behind the kitchen handles prep and storage, keeping the main space clean and focused on gathering.
Beyond the addition, the project improves flow and consistency throughout the home with refined millwork and thoughtful details, including a standout powder bath and built-ins.

Custom Wine Room Addition | Raleigh, NC
Step inside this custom wine room addition in Raleigh, NC as Dave walks through the project from start to finish.
The tour begins on an upper-level balcony overlooking the wine cellar, where the design intent starts to come into focus. From there, a curved stair leads down into the main space, a dramatic, fully custom wine room designed for both storage and experience.
The space then opens into a hidden grotto lounge, accessed through a concealed Murphy door built as a bookcase. Inside, a stone fireplace, rich wood paneling, and low lighting create a warm, intimate setting for relaxing and entertaining.
The walkthrough finishes by reconnecting the addition back to the home and exterior, showing how seamlessly it integrates. This project highlights how thoughtful design-build can turn a simple idea into a layered, experience-driven space.

Addition & Whole House Remodel | Cary, NC
This Cary, NC renovation and addition is centered on connection, between spaces, levels, and how the family lives day to day.
The original home felt segmented, with a tucked-away kitchen, awkward circulation, and little connection to the backyard. The goal was to open it up while keeping everything intentional.
At the core is a reimagined kitchen with an oversized island, supported by a hidden scullery and pantry. It flows into the dining area and vaulted family room, creating a bright, continuous living space.
A new open stair and double-height space introduce a strong vertical connection, bringing light deeper into the home and linking the main level to the upstairs loft. Upstairs, the primary suite becomes a true retreat, while secondary bedrooms are reorganized and a new loft adds flexible space. The lower level is transformed into a recreation area with access to a screened porch, extending living outdoors.
Clean, warm materials tie it all together. This project shows how thoughtful design can reshape how a home lives.

We focus on custom residential architecture—everything from interior remodels and additions to full-home transformations and new construction. Most of our clients are looking to reimagine their homes in thoughtful, creative ways. Not sure if you need an architect? We guide clients through a phased process that starts with understanding your goals and vision (Discovery), followed by conceptual design (Feasibility Design), then interior design, permit drawings, and construction documentation. (Detailed design) It is a very personal experience for our clients that involves our creativity combined with their collaboration. We strive to keep it simple and inspirational throughout the design journey.

Fees vary based on project scope and complexity, but we try and keep it simple for our clients. Our first step of Feasibility Design which includes 3D conceptual design + budgeting ranges between $3,500-$10,500. Once we have helped you figure out what your home can be, we dive into the specifics and interior design in our detailed Design Phase. Fees here typically range between 5%-12% of the construction budget.

Led by David P. Pollard, AIA, our team brings decades of experience designing and delivering thoughtful, high-performance homes. David is a licensed Architect in both North Carolina and Illinois and current President of NARI Greater Chicago, with a background in design-build leadership and a commitment to client-centered design.
